Fresh water fish spawning and dying in streams add little as compared to the fish that pick up their stream feeding nutrients from the ocean and carry them back to the freshwater biomass. It's pretty much the same with chucking the guts of a fresh water fish back into a lake. It tends to do more harm than good as it breaks down and breeds bacteria. It is easy however to infer that fish are fish so it must be good in all instances.
